Carmakers are kicking off 2017 at the North American International Auto Show in Detroit.
This year, luxury sedans and small sport utility vehicles jostle for the spotlight, along with electric cars, and diesel-powered pickup trucks.
General Motors' Chevrolet Bolt-EV already snatched the title of North American Car of the Year. The company also showed an improved Chevrolet Traverse.
Ford announced it is bringing back the Bronco, a truck-like SUV, and the midsize pickup truck Ranger. Its best-selling F-150 got a facelift, and, for the first time ever, it comes with a diesel engine option.
Mercedes boasted a redesigned E-class coupe, with all-new architecture and electronics.
And Toyota pulled the wraps off an all-new Camry midsize sedan. The automaker also revealed luxurious Lexus LS sedan.
ALG's Patrick Min:
"Detroit Auto Show shows that there is a lot of activity, that the automakers are trying to bring a lot of excitement, a lot of new models. There is a lot of redesigns for some of the biggest models in the industry."
And that's just the tip of the iceberg. Volkswagen, Audi, Nissan, and many other automakers are set to make presentations during the show, which ends on January 22nd.
